Description:

 

Get Your Green Back is a community-based movement that will support community members in finding ways to save money on energy related costs (e.g. heat and electricity), food, transportation and waste related costs.

 

It is primarily a community education and motivational effort with the goal of:

     having every household and business in Tompkins County take at least one step by the end of
2012 to save money in the areas listed above.

 

Other goals include reducing the overall carbon footprint of Tompkins County by educating people about the importance of taking concrete steps, giving them specific steps to take and providing incentives (including saving money) for taking those steps.

 

It is also a networking effort that will help community organizations and business share resources across sectors of the economy, encourage support for local businesses and, as the market increases for activities in the energy, food, waste management and transportation sectors of the economy, producing jobs.

 

The project is underway a major launch between on February 29, 2012.
