Retrofitting Project

Description:

Retrofitting is essentially a project with the goal of making all of the properties in the Tompkins County region energy efficient which will reduce energy costs and significantly reduce our carbon footprint.

The project is currently one of the premier projects in the Southern Tier Regional Development Council plan for regional economic development. Mechanisms are in place to provide financing roughly 50% of the privately owned residential housing stock in the county.

Primary Populations served:

In terms of building retrofits-everyone.

In terms of job development, if this is done correctly this is a viable vehicle for increasing employment among economically marginalized communities and individuals.
